Two workers lost their lives in an explosion at a marble quarry in the northern Black Sea province of Kastamonu on Wednesday, as millions of workers across the world marked Labor Day.
According to initial findings, the explosion took place at a quarry in the Agli district of Kastamonu, the state-run Anadolu Agency (AA) reported on Wednesday.
Thousands of laborers are killed in work-related accidents across Turkey every year.
In April, at least 177 laborers were killed in Turkey, according to a monthly report released by the Workers’ Health and Work Safety Assembly (ISIGM), a non-governmental organization focusing on worker health and safety issues.
According to the March report of ISIGM, 108 workers were killed in occupational accidents throughout Turkey.
